Natixis Partners was mandated by Wallonie Entreprendre in May 2024 to advise on a subordinated debt financing for a BESS project, in Harmignies, Wallonia. The transaction included a €15m junior debt investment from Wallonie Entreprendre, alongside approximately €60m of senior debt financing.
The Harmignies BESS project, developed by Energy Solutions Group (“ESG”), a Belgian electricity producer, comprises Tesla lithium-ion battery systems with a discharge capacity of 75 MW over a four-hour period, for a total storage capacity of 300 MWh. The project is directly connected to the high-voltage grid.
Construction began in September 2024, with a scheduled COD in February 2026. The facility is to benefit from the capacity remuneration mechanism for a least 10 years, and to be operational for a minimum period of 15 years.
